Abstract

A field study on influence of pinching of apical bud and chemical sprays on seed yield and quality of fenugreek indicated that plants pinched at 30 DAS recorded significantly highest values for productive branches (6.89), pod length (11.24cm), number of pods per plant (36.23), number of seeds per pod (17.44), test weight (4.25g) and seed yield (8.83q/ha) compared to plants pinched at 35 DAS, 40 DAS and without pinching . Among chemical sprays GA3 (100 ppm) followed by boron (0.1%) produced more number of productive branches (6.68 & 6.48 respectively) and seed yield (8.53 & 8.06 q/ha respectively). Among interaction effect, maximum number of branches (7.10) with more plant height (61.20 cm) and seed yield (9.50 q/ha) was recorded with pinching at 30 DAS and GA3 (100 ppm) foliar spray and was closely followed by boron (0.1%) spray. The seed quality interms of germination, vigour index, seedling dry weight, speed of germination with lower EC values were also higher with these interaction treatments.
