Cost of Production of Rice and Maize in World Trade Organization Era of Karnataka

Abstract


Structural changes in cost of production of rice and maize in Karnataka are due to changes in the quantity and quality of inputs associated with technological process. due to their prices and globalization. In this context the present study was conducted to analyze the impact of globalization (WTO) on the cost of production of rice and maize using tabular analysis. The total cost of cultivation of rice has increased from Rs 9008.95 in pre wro to Rs 23482.68 per hectare in post wro period. In case of maize the cost of cultivation of maize has gone up from Rs 5970.67 in pre wro to Rs 9192.88 per hectare in post wro period to Rs. 9192.88 per hectare in post wro period. These increases in cost of production of rice and maize were attributed to increase in quantity of inputs used and their prices.
