Abstract

Genetics of bacterial wilt was studied in four F2 population which were chosen by 20 F1 hybrids derived from line x tester crosses of five female x four male parents. The gca effects for parents were noticed that DWD-1 (169.00) and Malapur (410.00) were good general combiners for the fruit yield and DWD-1 (-22.40), DWD-2 (-8.86) and DWD-3 (-15.39) were the best desirable combiners for the bacterial wilt incidence. Among 20 F1’s, DWD-1 x Malapur was recorded highest significant desirable sca (-24.93) effects compared to remains. The scoring of bacterial wilt incidence on four F2 population noticed that the segregation of population to the inheritance of bacterial wilt resistance was 3 (non-wilted):1 (wilted) ratio suggested single gene inheritance for bacterial wilt resistance.
