Abstract

A study has been conducted at Department of Plant Pathology, University of Agricultural Sciences Dharwad on evaluation of new molecules of fungicides and plant extracts against Alternaria helianthi, causal agent of Alternaria blight of sunflower. All of them were evaluated through inhibition of spore germination test and poison food test. Among non-systemic fungicides, iprodione + carbendazim (a combi product) was most effective which inhibited 58.39 per cent spore germination and 65.18 per cent mycelial  growth. Systemic fungicides, hexaconazole (63.12 % and 72.87 % respectively) and propiconazole (61.80 and 76.53 %) were most effective and were found on par. Neem leaf extract with 38.49 per cent inhibition of spore germination and 43.90 per cent inhibition of mycelial  growth was effective than all other plant extracts.
