Abstract

An experiment was conducted during 2007-08 at Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad to understand the influence of seed pelleting on crop growth, seed yield and quality. The experimental results indicated the superiority of seed pelleting with ZnSO4 (300 mg/kg) +Captan (2.5 glkg) + Imidacloprid (2.5 g/kg) (C7) as compared to all other treatments including unpelleted control. Different growth and yield parameters such as plant height (58.90 and 67.93 cm at 90 DAT and at harvest), number of  branches (22.80 at 90 DAT and 24.04 at harvest), flower days to 50 per cent flowering (40.34 days, fruit maturity (101.34 days), number of fruits per plant (33.00), fruit length (10.96 cm), fruit girth (93.36 cm), fruit yield per plant (9590 g), fruit yield per ha (219 q), seed weight per fruit (2.53 g), number of seeds per fruit (171.34 ),seed yield per plant (14.73 g), seed yield per hectare (546 kg), 1000 seed weight (5.96 g) were highest in treatment (C7). Further, seed quality parameters after harvest such as seed germination (94.00%), root length (7.85 cm), shoot length (10.64 cm), vigour index (17.37), seedling dry weight (43.94 mg), speed of germination (17.63) and electrical conductivity (0.365 dS/m) in paprika chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) cv. Kt-PI-19.
