Abstract

Present investigations were carried out to assess the efficacy of native Bacillus thuringiensis isolates against cabbage leaf webber, Crocidolomia binotalis Z. and their molecular characterization. Of the thirty-five isolates tested against C. binotalis, mortality of each isolate varied. Maharastra isolate M-49 caused a mortality of 80 per cent, Tamil nadu isolate Tx-381 which was bipyramidal in shape recorded 90.00 per cent mortality. Goa isolates 1698/3, 1676/3 and 1711/1 recorded 83.33, 83.33, and 86.67 per cent mortality and Chikkamanglur isolate 2422/C recorded 80 per cent mortality. Molecular characterization of selected isolates represented the presence of lepidopterans specific genes cry1 and cry2.
