Therapeutic Management of Repeat Breeder HF X JR Cows Employing Buserelin Acetate

M.S. Dodamani, S.S. Honnappagol

Abstract

Eighteen HF X JR crossbred repeat breeder cows were randomly allocated into 3 groups of 6 each. The animals of group of II and I were injected with buserelin acetate @ 250 mcg IM on the day of estrus for both the groups and on day 12 and 16, respectively following breeding. The animals in control group (Group III) received placebo injection of normal saline. The pH of estrual cervico-vaginal mucus did not indicate any bearing on fertility and it ranged within 8.00 to 9.00. Among the physical characters of estrual cervico-vaginal mucus, typical arborization pattern, high spinnbarkeit reading favoured better fertility. The animals of treatment group I registered a considerable higher conception rate of 83.33  followed by 66.67   in-group II as against 33.33 per cent in control group.
