R. Basavarajappa, P.K. Basavaraj

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during 1997-98 and 1998-99 Kharif seasons to know the effect of different NPK levels on production of proso millet under shallow red soils.  There were nine treatment combinations comprising of different NPK levels and control.  The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The pooled results revealed that, 40:20: 10 NPK kg/ha recorded significantly higher grain yield (1887 kg/ha), which is 123 per cent higher grain yield as compared to the treatment with no fertilizer.  Trends were similar with respect to straw yield also.
