S.S. Hallikeri, H.L. Halemani, R.A. Nandagavi

Abstract

The mean of two years data indicated that one hand weeding and interculturing at 30 days after sowing followed by post emergent application of glyphosate @ 900 gram acid equivalent (g a e) /ha at 50 DAS has produced significantly higher yield (1659 kg /ha) as compared to spraying of post-emergent application of glyphosate alone. Further, application of diuron 80%WP @ 1.0kg a i/ha as pre emergent application followed by one hand weeding and IC at 30 DAS has also produced more yield (1599 kg/ha) as compared to application of diuron alone. Total bolls harvested per plant, yield per plant and plant height were followed similar trend. Weed count and weed dry matter were more in the herbicides alone applied plot as compared to combination of cultural and chemical methods of weed control in cotton.
