Effect of Mother Plant Nutrition and Chemical Spray on Seed Germination and Seedling Vigour of China Aster Cv. Kamini

Abstract


An investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of two fertilizer levels viz., 180: 120: 60 and 240: 160: 80 kg N: P2O5: K2O/ha and six chemicals spray viz., GA3 200 ppm, MH 500 ppm, Mepiquat chloride 500 ppm, TIBA 100 ppm, Boron 0.1% and water spray and control at 30 days after transplanting and ray floret initiation stage. It was concluded that application of 240: 160: 80 kg N: P2O5: K2O//ha recorded numerically higher seed germination and seedling vigour as compared to 180: 120: 60 kg N: P2O5: K2O/ha. Among the chemicals, GA3 200 ppm followed by Boron 0.1%, MH 500 ppm and TIBA 100 ppm increased the seed germinability and seedling vigour. Among the interactions, maximum seed germination and seedling vigour were recorded in 240: 160: 80 kg N: P2O5: K2O/ha either with GA3 200 ppm (94.1%) or Boron 0.1% (92.3%) or MH 500 ppm (90.3%) or mepiquat chloride 500 ppm (89.1%) spray once at 30 days after transplanting and another at ray floret initiation stage.
