Field Evaluation of Insecticides and Oil Combinations Against Spiralling Whitefly, Aleurodicus dispersus on Guava

D.N. Kambrekar, J.S. Awaknavar

Abstract

Three insecticides viz., triazophos 40 EC (0.03%), dimethoate 30 EC (0.025%) and dichlorvos 76 WSC (0.05%) were tested in combination with neem oil (0.5%), cotton seed oil (0.5%) and fish oil insecticidal soap (FOIS) (1.25%) against all the developmental stages of spiralling whitefly, Aleurodicus dispersus Russell under field condition. Among the insecticides in combination, dimethoate and triazophos were excellent in reducing the number of egg masses of spiralling whitefly at 5 days after spraying (DAS). At 10 and 15 DAS, 86.49 and 84.09 per cent reduction of egg masses was recorded. FOIS and neem oil recorded 83.80 and 78.40 per cent reduction of egg masses at 10 DAS. Triazophos and dimethoate recorded 60.96 and 59.21, per cent reduction of nymphs; 51.53 and 60.15 per cent reduction of pupae and 76.99 and 80.31 per cent reduction of adult population at 15 DAS. Among the oils, FOIS recorded maximum reduction of all the stages of spiralling whitefly.
