Abstract

Response of wheat (Tricticum aestivum) to graded levels of fertilizer application to green manure and wheat and Zn levels to wheat under irrigation was studied at the Agricultural College Farm, Raichur on deep black clay soil during khariff and rabi season of 2002-2003. The results showed that the application of 25 per cent of RDF pf wheat to green manure produced significantly higher biomass of sunnhemp (12.42 t ha-1). Significantly higher grain yield (35.72q ha-1), straw yield (54.78 q ha-1), HI (0.395) and dry matter production (DMP) at harvest (258.05g m-1row length) was recorded with the application of 25 per cent RDF of wheat to green manure followed by no fertilizers to wheat. Among zinc levels, soil application of ZnSO4 @ 10 kg ha-1recorded significantly higher grain yield (27.72 q ha-1), straw yield (44.07 q ha-1), HI (0.366) abd DMP at harvest (202.72 gm-1row length) over rest of the treatments. However, combined application of 25 per cent RDF of wheat to green manure followed by 75 per cent RDF to wheat + soil application ZnSO4 @ 10 kg ha-1 resulted in significantly higher grain yield (37.81 q ha-1) and also yield attributes over rest of the treatment combinations.
