An experiment with 40 blackgram genotypes was conducted to study the variability, association and path- coefficients of different characters with yield per plant. The genotypes differed significantly for all the six characters studied. Pods per plant, number of branches per plant and plant height were significantly and positively associated with yield per plant. Pods per plant had the highest positive direct effect on yield followed by test seed weight and number of  branches.
