Abstract

Biology and feeding potential of Micromus timidus Hagen was studied under laboratory conditions on Ceratovacuna lanigera Zehntner. The eggs were incubated for 3.25 ± 0.45 days and the first, second and third instar larvae completed development in 2.12 ± 0.33, 2.00±0.40 and 1.69± 0.55 days and consumed 49.42±16.84, 89.85±30.80 and 104.65±32.43 aphids respectively. The fecundity was recorded as 583.50±206.83 eggs/female. The individual larva consumed 243.92 ± 34.34 aphids to complete the larval duration (5.81 ± 0.69 days) and an adult consumed on an average 213.68±55.40 aphids for a period of 31.06 ± 11.11. The per day consumption was 42.06±3.79 and  6.88±3.64 aphids by larva and adult, respectively.
