Abstract
Application of Soil Conservation Service (SCS) model in predicting runoff and soil moisture can be improved by estimating its retention parameter (S) accurately. The computer programme (Soil Moisture Accounting Procedure Software) developed by Pathak et al. (1988) helps to predict the same. The results of the case study conducted to test the predictability of runoff using software have shown the variation in the quantities of runoff from each storm with a relative error in the range of 15 to 49 per cent in case of fallow conditions and 10 to 36 per cent in case of cropped conditions.
