Constraints Encountered in the Adoption of IPM Technologies

Santha Govind, G. Perumal

Abstract

The production of rice mainly depends upon the management of pest and diseases which takes a major share in the total production cost. Integrated pest management (IPM) is the eco-friendly solution to overcome the pest management problems. The study was undertaken to identify the constraints faced by the farmers in adoption of IPM practices and to suggest appropriate corrective measures to make farming a viable and profitable enterprise. The study was taken up in Tanjore district of Tamil Nadu state with 100 paddy farmers each under IPM and Non-IPM compact block demonstration villages. The major findings on the constraints faced in the adoption of IPM technologies among IPM and non-IPM farmers are analysed.
