Abstract

In a field experiment conducted at Main Research Station Dharwad during kharif 1999-2000 the genotypes, Maruti and PET 3 -19 did not differ significantly for grain yield and most of the growth characters. But change in geometry had a significant effect on different growth characters and yield of pigeonpea. Among the seven geometries tested a geometry of 120 cm x 30 cm with a population of 27,777 plants per ha recorded significantly higher grain yield and most of the growth characters. Among the combination of treatments, the genotype Maruti in a geometry of 120 gm x 30 cm (27,777 plants/ha) was proved to be better than other Combinations of genotype and geometry (population),
