Abstract

An investigation was undertaken to Know the influence of different mating durations (1,2,3,4 and 5hr) in newly evolved bivoltine breeds viz., CSR2, CSR4, CSR5, and NB4D2 (check) (male component) crossed with Pure Mysore (female counterpart) on grainage parameters of Bombyx mori L. Studies revealed that the fecundity was. highest (578.2 eggs/laying) with CSR4,mated for 3hr, While least number of unfertile and dead eggs were noticed with CSR2 x 4hr (9.8 eggs/laying) and CSR2 x 3hr (2.0 eggs/ laying), respectively. Further fertile eggs and hatchability were higher for CSR2, allowed for 3hr copulation (561.0  eggs/laying and 97.9%). However, all these parameters were interior with NB4D2 mated for 1hr duration.
