Abstract

An investigation was carried out to know the effect of seed cocoon transportation on defective cocoons and cocoon traits of NB4D 2   seed cocoons raised in different seed areas of Karnataka during different seasons. The study revealed that, melted, uji-infested and urinated cocoons were lowest in Attibele batch (1.88, 1.00 arid 1,63%). Among seasons, it was lowest in winter for melted cocoons (12.30%) and summer for uji-infested (1,95%) and urinated cocoons (1.65%). Cocoon size was maximum (49.50 cocoons /1/2 litre) in Sirsi during winter season, cocoon and shall weights were maximum with Attibele x  winter combination (1.668 and 0.322g) and shell ratio was more with Sirsi x winter (20.22%) interaction.
