Abstract

Dominance gene effects were predominant for ratooning ability, though additive gene effects were also important. Intermating of selects followed by visual selection in early segregating generations would bring improvement in the trait. In majority of crosses duplicate type of epistasis was observed. The results suggest the complex nature of inheritance of ratooning ability in rice.
