Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to know the impact of incorporation of leucaena loppings (ICL) and varying levels of recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) on the morphological features, yield components and yield of tomato raised in the interspace of nine year old leucaena hedgerows. Alley tomato supplied with loppings @ 5 t/ha and 100 percent RDN produced significantly the highest plant height (159.32 cm), number of branches (30.08), number of functional leaves (221.08), leaf area (114.96 dm2), leaf area index (2.56), stem thickness (1.90 cm), fruit set (85.99%), fruit weight (84.0 g), fruit diameter (6.17cm) and the economic yield (43.96 t/ha). All these characters were significantly least in tomato grown sole without ICL and recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF).
