Psychosomatic Problems Among Women Working in Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bangalore

Abstract


To analyse the psychosomatic problems experienced by women employed in BEL, the data were collected on socio-economic status, stress, in occupation, household and marital life, height (cm) and weight (kg) from 66 Executive (Ex-I) and 364 Non-Executive (Nex-II) women in BEL. The study revealed that occupational stress was higher in Ex-I, whereas, household and marital role stress and BMl were found to be higher in Nex-II women. Higher per cent of psychosomatic problems were experienced by Nex-ll women because of the nature of work, their higher age and weight compared to Ex-I women and psychosormatic problems were found to be highly related wtth age. size of the family, stress and BMI.
