The study conducted in Mandya district of Karnataka State during 2007 to assess the knowledge level of 150 sugarcane growers regarding  recommended   cultivation practices, revealed that 76  per cent of the sugarcane growers had high/medium knowledge level. Further eight independent  variables viz., Economic motivation, achievement motivation, mass media use, participation in training programmes, farm scientist contact, extension agency contact and extension participation had significant to highly significant relationship with the  knowledge level of sugarcane glowers. Extension agency contact alone contributed for more than 45 per cent of the variation in their knowledge level.
