Abstract

Field nursery experiment was conducted during kharif 2006 and 2007 to study the efficacy of fungicides against damping off of chilli, at Main Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad. The Parameters viz., per cent germination, root and shoot length were found non significant. During Kharif 2006 the treatment viz Metalaxyl M+ Mancozeb (4+64) WP @ 1.20% was found effective and recorded 20.80 percent seedling mortality. However the same treatment was found on par with 0.3 and 0.6 per cent and recorded 30.62 and 24.62 per cent seedling mortality respectively Where as in Kharif 2007 the treatment Metalaxyl M + Mancozeb (4+64) at 1.2 per cent was significantly superior over lower concentrations (24.85 %) and was found on  par with Ridomil MZ at 0.3 percent and reduced per cent seedling mortality to an extent of 27.20 percent. The pooled analysis of Kharif 2006 and 2007 revealed the significant difference among the fungicides. Metalaxyl M + Mancozeb (4+64) at all concentrations was found on par with Ridomil MZ at 0.3 %.
