Effect of Sodium Chloride Treatment on the Disease Development, Quality and Biochemical Constituents of Chilli Fruits Affected by Colletotrichum capsica (Sydow.) Butler and Bisby

Gurudatt M. Hegde, K.H. Anahosur

Abstract

Anthracnose or fruit rot or chill caused by Colletotrichun capsici generally results in heavy reduction in yield and also causes storage loss. A study was undertaken to control the disease and also to maintain the colour by treating the fruits in sodium chloride solution. The treated fruits not only retained colour but also had higher capsaicin, ascorbic acid and total sugars.
