Biochemical Basis of Resistance to Fruit Rot (Colletotrichum capsici) in Chilli Genotypes

Abstract
Fifty two chilli genotypes were screened against fruit rot of chilli caused by colletotrichum capsici (Sydow) Butler and Bisby under natural conditions at Agricultural Research Station, Hanumanmatti. LCA-301, LCA-324, K-1 and Byadgi Kaddi were found resistant and KDSC-210-10 and S-32 were found highly susceptible. Resistant genotypes contained higher capsaicin ascorbic acid and lower total sugars than susceptible varieties.
