Residual Effect of Kharif Potato on Succeeding Rabi Crops II. Wheat

Abstract


The results of the field trials on the residual effect of kharif potato on the succeeding crop of wheat revealed that there was improvement in the soil fertility status after potato harvest. Wheat crop taken up after kharif potato gave significantly higher grain yield of 1967 kg/ha with the appliation of 50 per cent of the recommended dose of N and it was on par with other treatments receiving higher doses of fertilizers. Application of P was not required for wheat crop.
