The studies on the effect of kharif potato on succeeding chickpea crop showed that the fertility status was improved after harvest of potato crop and there was distinct gain with respect to organic carbon and available N, P and K contents of soil in potato - chickpea sequence compared to its initial status. Chickpea crop responded only upto the application of 50 per cent of the recommended nitrogen. The phosphorus application recommendation to chickpea could be deleted.
