Studies on Effect of Different Plant Spacings on Leaf Yield and Quality of M5 Mulberry Genotype under Semi-arid Conditions of Karnataka

Abstract


A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of plant spacing (60 x 60 cm, 90 x 60 cm and 120 x 60 cm) on the growth, yield and quality of mulberry (Moms alba L). leaves and cocoon yield under semi-arid conditions during 1994-97 at sub Station of Karnataka State Sericulture Research and Development Institute, Kadaganchi, Gulbarga district. The results revealed that the leaf yield, leaf water content and silkworm rearing performance were significantly better with 60 x 60 cm spacing.
