Abstract

A field trial involving the silvicultural crop (teak), field crop (sorghum) and pastoral (grass/ subabul) was conducted on red gravely soils of Main Research Station, Dharwad during 1984. Teak was planted at 10 and 20 m alleys with 2 m apart, pastures were planted on either side of teak alley. Sorghum was grown continously for two years between teak alleys under rainfed conditions. Plant height was significantly reduced throughout growing season in the under of 30, 60, 90 DAS and harvest. Reduction of leaf area was higher 30,60.90 DAS than at harvest. But dry matter production was affected in the order 90, 60 DAS. harvest, 30 DAS, respectively.
