Effect of Plant Population and Nitrogen Levels on Growth, Yield and Quality of Ginger - Yield and Yield Attributes

B.S. Davanakatti, G.S. Sulikeri

Abstract

The effects of three levels of plant population (1,48,148; 1,11,111 and 87,719 plants/ha) and four levels of nitrogen 50, 75, 100 and 125 kg/ha) on yield and yield attributes in ginger were studied under transitional tract of Karnataka. Both plant population and nitrogen levels had significant influence on different yield attributing characters, fresh and cured rhizome yield. The highest fresh (14.16 t/ha) and cured (2.48 t/ha) rhizome yields were recorded under higher population. Among the nitrogen levels, the highest fresh (16.71 t/ha) and cured rhizome (2.79 t/ha) yields were accorded at the highest dose of nitrogen (125 kg/ha).
