Health and Nutritional Status of Non-insulin Dependent Diabetic Patients

Abstract


The health and nutritional status of NIDDM subjects indicated that majority of them were found suffering from vision problem (70%), hypertension (68%) and heart problem (46%). The percentage of male diabetics suffering from chronic disease were higher than the females. The magnitude of diseases was less in non-diabetics than diabetics. Diabetics were found to have higher mean body weight, mid arm circumference and fat fold thickness than non-diabetics and males having values higher than females. Though majority of diabetics were under normal body weight as per body mass index, percentage of obese diabetics was more than the non-diabetics.
