Field experiment was conducted during 1995 and 1996 at Kumbapur Farm, Dharwad, to study the fertility buildup by Stylosanthes pasture.The results revealed that, both the Stylosanthes species improved the organic carbon (20%), nitrogen (14%) and phosphorus (12%) buildup in soil as compared to first harvest of crop. Application of maintenance fertilizer is enough to buildup soil fertility.
