Effect of Copper Ore Tailings and Copper Sulphate on uptake of Micronutrients in Groundnut

S.S. Gundlur, H.M. Manjunathaiah

Abstract

Field experiments were conducted on red soils at Manoli, Hanumanamatti and Kulageri during summer 1995 and 1996 under irrigated condition, to know the effect of different levels of copper ore tailing (COT) at 200, 400, 600 and 1000 kg per hectare and CuS04 at 10, 20 and 30 kg per hectare on groundnut (TMV-2). Pooled data oftwo years of all the three locations indicated that application of COG @ 1000 kg COT/ha significantly increased the concentration and uptake of Cu, Zn. Fe and Mn in haulm and kernels of groundnut. The highest uptake of Cu (56.12 g/ha). Zn (93.38 g/ha). Fe (1767 g/ha) and Mn (197.67 g/ha) in haulm and Cu (77.24 g/ha), Zn (93.38 g/ha). Fe (612 g/ha) and Mn (50.15 g/ha) in kernels ofgroundnutwas obtained with 1000 kg COT/ha application. The application of COT and CuS04 used as source of copper increased the uptake of other micronutrients which helped for increasing the pod yield (24.03 q/ha) with 1000 kg COT/ha significantly.
