Influence of Tender Shoot Feeding on Growth and Development of Silkworm, Bombyx mori L.

Abstract


An attempt was made to study the influence of feeding tender shoots to fifth instar silkworm larvae for different durations. The tender shoots when fed to fifth instar silkworms upto three days and subsequently with matured shoots, it resulted in significant improvement in full grown larval weight (32.71 g/10 larvae) and effective rate of rearing (81.82%) and the lowest disease incidence viz., grasserie (7.21 %) and flacherie (2.33%).
