Abstract

The economic appraisal of MPTS was carried out in terms of Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Raio (BCR) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). Among the 12 MPTS studied, Azadirchta indica, Hardwickia binata and Albezzia lebbeck obtained first, second and third rankings in terms of all the above three selection criteria. The NPV for Azadirachta indica. Hardwickia binata and Albezzia lebbeck was positive and stood at Rs.18,602, Rs.14,282 and Rs.10,516, BCR was 7.50, 6.14 and 5.76 and IRR was 13.02 per cent, 12.95 per cent and 12.79 per cent, respectively. Thus, based on these decision criteria, it could be concluded that, among the selected MPTS,  growing of Hardwickia binata and Albezzia lebbeck is economically viable.
