A study was conducted to know the performance of various informal water distribution systems in vogue among farmers at farm level in Left Bank Low Level Canal (LBLLC) command area of Tungabhadra Project in Karnataka during 1993-94. The findings indicated that the turn (vant) system of rotational water distribution was generally followed in most of the locations followed by acreage and time basis system at head region. The performance of turn (vant) system of rotational water distribution appears to be good as compared to the time and acreage basis system and no orderly systems in view of its efficient water and input use pattern as well as higher yields.
