Abstract

The longitudinal study from the year 1990 to 1994 explores the pattern of development of general depression among the students of College of Agriculture, Dharwad. The depression scale was administered four times, with an interval of one year between the administrations, on purposively selected sample of 27 male subjects. The data were subjected to mean, S.D., paired t-test analyses. The results revealed that the subjects have experienced general depression as well as apathy, pessimism, irritability, social-withdrawal, sadness, self-dislike, fatigability and self -harm in a developmental pattern, whereas sleep-disturbance and self-reoccupation experiences have increased; but, indecisiveness and self -acquisition experiences have decreased as the students passed through the degree programme.
