M.S. Prasad, B. Sundaraswamy, M.R. Anasari

Abstract

The study conducted in Rangareddy district of Andhra Pradesh to know the adoption behaviour of farmers with regard to selected dryland agricultural technologies over a period of time and the factors which retarded their adoption has revealed that there was an increased rate of adoption in case of contour cultivation over a period of time, while it was declining lately in case of off-season tillage and soil bunding. However, the findings revealed that there was no such trend of adoption in case of opening of dead-furrows, vegetative barrier, farm pond and dryland hbrticulture. The results indicated that non-awareness, non-applicability of the practice, lack of finance, lack of knowledge and lack of irrigation were perceived as the factors which retarded adoption of dryland agricultural technologies over a period of time.
