Hydrograph Time Parameters for Hilly Watersheds of Lower Bhavani Catchment

U. Satish Kumar, M. Koteeswaran

Abstract

The variability of hydrograph analysed at the outlet of the watershed, in terms of it's shape and scale could be accounted effectively by quantitative examination of Hydrograph parameters. The selected watersheds being part of River Lower Bhavani catchment, eventhough, bestowed with rich vegetation cover due to sub humid - sub tropic climatic conditions, suffer accelerated erosion. Among the thirteen empirical relationships tested for their efficacy in estimating time of concentration equation derived by Johnstone and Cross and in estimating time to peak Nash and James et al. were found viable and can be applied for other hydrological similar ungaged watersheds.
