Abstract

The field experiments were conducted at Agriculture Research Station, Dharwad Farm during 2006-07 and 2007-08 to know the crop loss due to foliar diseases i.e. grey mildew (Ramularia areola), alternaria blight (Alternaria macrospora) and bacterial blight Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. malvacearum) separately. Significantly low grey mildew per cent disease index (19.10 PDI) and the maximum yield of 2045.39 kg per ha were recorded in carbendazim (0.1%) at 35, 50, 65, 80 and 95 DAS. Significantly low Alternaria blight per cent disease index (19.00 PDI) and the maximum yield of 1576.44 kg per ha were recorded in propiconazole (0.1%) at 35, 50, 65, 80 and 95 DAS. Significantly low bacterial blight per cent disease index (21.98 PDI) and the maximum yield of 1901.10 kg per ha were recorded in copper-oxy-chloride (0.3%) + streptocycline sulphate 500 ppm;35, 50, 65, 80 and 95 DAS. The results indicated that grey mildew, Alternaria blight and bacterial blight were more severe on Abhadita, Jayadhar and Laxmi varieties and caused upto 20.15, 33.43 and 22.27 per cent reduction in yield, respectively.
