Analysis of Variance and Environmental Indices for Different Traits of African and French Marigold Genotypes

B. Hemla Naik, A.A. Patil, N. Basavaraj

Abstract

The analysis of variance and environmental indices of twenty-five genotypes (15 African marigold and 10 French marigold) of marigold grown over three environments were studied for twenty traits. The analysis of variance indicated that, the genotypes of both the species differed significantly at one per cent of probability for all the traits studied. Similarly the MSS due to G X E interaction found to be highly significant for most of the economic traits. The environmental indices varied for all the traits of both the species. In general, both kharif seasons exhibited positive indices compared to rabi environment for majority of the characters. These facts are indicative of rich natural environmental status during kharif 2002-03 which had favoured the crop for manifesting complete genetic potential with respect to plant height, number of flowers, total yield and other characters studied.
