Stability Analysis in African Marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) Genotypes for Growth and Flower Yield

B. Hemla Naik, A.A. Patil, N. Basavaraj

Abstract

The investigation was aimed at identifying a suitable and stable genotype for higher flower production of tall marigold (Targets erecta L.) across the environments. The results of the stability analysis over three environments (Viz, Kharif 2001-02 (E1), Rabi 2001-02 (E2) and Kharif 2002-03 (E3) revealed that the genotype, African Marigold Orange (AMO) recorded significantly higher flower yield (16.47 t/ha) per hectare with a B: C ratio of 3.28 as compared to the local check (Orange Double). The same genotype showed stability parameters in a desirable direction i.e., non-significant deviation from unit regression co-efficient and mean square deviation.
