Effect of Post-Harvest Treatments on Keeping Quality of Guava (Psidium guajava L.) Fruits CV Sardar-I

S.L. Jagadeesh, A.K. Rokhade

Abstract

Effect of various post-harvest treatments on the storage behaviour of Sardar guava under ambient conditions was studied. Fruits understudy were packed in cartons and 200 guagepolythylene bags. Treatment of fruits with waxol (9%) was observed to prolong the storage life in both the packagings. The performance of wax emulsion (9% and 6%) with respect to physico-chemical and organoleptic qualities was superior to calcium compounds, growth regulators, fungicides and precooling. In general, physico-chemical characteristics were better in polyethylene packed fruits and the organoleptic rating was higher under carton packaging.
