Effect of Tylosin Phosphate on Progeny Performance of Broiler Breeders

O.R. Nataraju, B. Umakantha

Abstract

Two strain crosses of mycoplasma-free broiler breeders were allocated to three treatment groups, each group consisting of 10 replicates with each replicate comprising of 10 females and 2 males. These groups were fed one of three treatment diets for four periods of 28 days duration (112 days); 0, 35 mg or 50 mg tylosin phosphate/kg diet. The progeny performance of the groups was measured during the last (fourth) period. Body weight, feed consumption, feed efficiency and mortality of the progenies did not show evidence of any untoward effect of tylosin phosphate in the breeder ration on progeny performance. The present study can be concluded that, tylosin phosphate had no maternal carry over effect at 35 and 50 mg levels.
