Studies were conducted to test various water management technologies under On-farm conditions between 1987-88 to 1992-93 in the Malaprabha Command area. Scientific irrigation water management practices proved superior over farmers practices with respect to higher yields, saving in irrigation water, water-use-efficiency and economic benefits. Studies indicated suitability of technologies for adoption on larger scale in a live irrigation system of the command with the operational constraints of the farmers.
