P. Surendra, S.K. Nadaf, R. Parameshwarappa

Abstract

Inheritance and interrelationship of pigmentation in two plant parts viz.,culm base and prophyllum were studied in the cross D6-2-2 and tilda of rice. The ratio of 39:25 obtained for pigmentation in culm base is interpreted as due to one basic (Pcb), one inhibitory (l-Pcb) and one anti-inhibitory (Ai-Pcb) genes. While the ratio of 3:61 was observed for pigmentation in prophyllum indicating that the action of one basic gene (Pbr) and two inhibitory duplicate genes (l-Pbrl and I-Pbr2) genes for this character.
