Rhizosphere Microflora of Chickpea (C/cer areitinum) Under Irrigated Conditions as Influenced by Various Soil Treatments

S.T. patel, K.H. Anahosur

Abstract

An investigation was earned out to determine the influence of irrigation levels and various soil amendments viz, carbendazim (Savistin 50 wp), FYM, neem cake and Tncnodemia haizianum Rifai (Th) on mizosphere microflora of chickpea. Results revealed non-significant effects of irrigation level, but soil amendments showed considerable and selective influence. Carbendazim as seed treatment (ST) and soil drench (SD) reduced fungal population irrespective of species and thereby proved its broad sprectrum antifungal property. ST+ SD coupled with soil application of Th reduced fungal count maximum FYM reduced Fusarium spp and Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid, but stimulated all other rhizosphere microflora under study and thereby probably operated multicorner antagonism against Fusarium spp and M. phaseolina
