Abstract

A field experiment using poor quality ground water was conducted at Nandagaon village of Mudhol taluk of Bagalkot district during kharif 2003 to study the effect of sub-surface drainage and amendments on the soil physical and chemical properties of black soil. The physical properties such as per cent aggregate stability indices, infiltration rate, porosity were higher and chemical properties like pH, EC and ESP values in soil after harvest of maize were lower in sub-surface drainage plots when compared to control.
