Abstract

The field and laboratory experiments were carried out at Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur, to know the effect of seed polymer coating on growth and yield of sunflower hybrid RSFH-130. The experiment consisted of eight seed treatments [T1 : Control, T2 : Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml/kg of seeds, T3 : Vitavax (Carboxin 37.5% + thiram 37.5%) @ 2 g/kg of seeds T4 : Imidachloprid @ 5 g/kg of seeds, T5 : Polymer seed coating @ 5ml/kg of seeds + Vitavax (Carboxin 37.5% + thiram 37.5%) @ 2 g/kg of seeds, T6 : Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml/kg of seeds + Imidachloprid @ 5 g/kg of seeds, T7 : Vitavax (Carboxin 37.5% + thiram 37.5%) @ 2 g/kg of seeds + Imidachloprid @ 5 g/kg of seeds, T8 : Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml/kg of seeds + Vitavax (Carboxin 37.5% + thiram 37.5%) @ 2 g/kg of seeds + Imidachloprid @ 5 g/kg of seeds] with three replications was laid out in simple Randomized Block Design. The results of the present investigation revealed that, T8 [Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml/kg of seeds + Vitavax (Carboxin 37.5%+ thiram 37.5%) @ 2 g/kg of seeds + Imidachloprid @ 5 g/kg of seeds] was found to be significantly superior in growth and yield parameters viz plant height, number of leaves, days to 50 per cent flowering, seed weight per plant, seed yield per hectare and seed filling per cent as compared to untreated control.
